Meet Mundia, a woman from George Compound who faced immense challenges during the 2023/2024 cholera outbreak. The disease not only impacted her family but forced her to shut down her business due to mitigation measures.
But Mundia’s story didn’t end there. Through our WASH & Thrive project, she gained skills in business management, financial literacy, and saving for household WASH improvements. With a K1,000 micro-loan from our partner, Human Rights and Science, she restarted her business—selling tomatoes in month one and expanding to vegetables and fritters by month two.
“I never thought I could start over after losing everything. Now, I believe I can grow my business and give my children the safe toilet they deserve,” Mundia shares with a smile.
By supporting female breadwinners like Mundia to get back on their feet and turn challenges into opportunities, we’re building resilience and creating a ripple effect that touches countless lives under their care.
We believe where women thrive, WASH improves, children flourish, and communities grow stronger.
