The Chibolya climate-resilient water kiosk not only serves as a lifeline against waterborne diseases for 570 households. Using the Universal Language for Communication (UL4C) approach, the kiosk is transformed into a space that promotes hygiene, safe water use, and community water stewardship.
With simple messages like “Water is Life, Protect It,” the mural reminds residents that this water belongs to the community, and protecting it is everyone’s shared responsibility. It encourages community members to take full ownership and control of the water source, reducing vandalism and ensuring sustainable water access and use.
We strongly believe that beyond resilient infrastructure investment, sustainability is built through ownership and control, behaviour change, and strong partnerships.
We therefore welcome partners who share this vision to work with to scale WASH access to more underserved communities in Zambia.
