Another inspiring afternoon with the Thrive for WASH women! Yesterday’s focus was on equipping women with practical skills through our climate-resilient self-irrigation initiative—an innovation that’s a game-changer for households and communities alike. By repurposing plastic bottles, these women will:
✔️ Build climate resilience through sustainable gardening
✔️ Reduce household spending on vegetables
✔️ Improve health for themselves and their children by easing worries about food security
✔️Save time and water through this efficient yet simple low cost solution
✔️ Optimize gardening space with creative, small-scale portable setups. no need for a backyard!
Their enthusiasm was inspiring:
“This is helpful because I don’t have to worry about watering or dogs pooping in the veggies. I will find a broken dish, place the bottles, and secure my garden even when I’m not home.”
“No more throwing away water and juice bottles! I wish we had learned this sooner.”
By blending sustainability with practicality, we’re not just teaching gardening; we’re building climate resilience, conserving resources, promoting health and freeing up women’s time to engage in other social and economic activities.
